RANDOM #90

“All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” Leo Tolstoy

we can forge the images
but not what is inside
smiles are just facades
of an offended pride
we can be together
while enmity lingers on
words are just useless
when a line has been drawn

struggling in silence
while the posts laugh out loud
hypocrisy is concealed
when blending with the crowd
a vision of a happy home
radiates through each other’s eyes
no amount of pretension
can soothe our regretful cries

likeness in happiness
uniqueness in struggle
together in triumph
alone in protracted battle
obsession in perfection
while hearts gently weep
there’s no valid excuse
for a wound so old and deep
