TAKE YOUR TIME (extended version)

“Sometimes taking time is actually a shortcut.”
–Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I talk About Running

Put your running shoes on it’s time to hit the road
Warm yourself up before starting the running mode
Suit up, gear up, whether it’s warm or cold
Age doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old
Fast or slow, you decide your running flow
Just go and run with your own kind of tempo
In silence, with an audio or with a GoPro
Remember each run is your own kind of show
Run all alone or do it on your own
With a buddy, with a club or just want to tag along
Go for a day or night run in your comfort zone
Or do it for a record and make a milestone

Take your time, create your own pace
Take your time, alone or in a race

No need to worry if you’re not in the lead
Keep your eyes on the road don't you ever concede
Don't push yourself too hard you'd get there by and by
When Endorphins kicked in you'd feel the runner's high
It doesn't really matter if it's trail or concrete
As long as your mind is in synced with your feet
Once you got the rhythm it will be a steady flow
With every stride you take your confidence will grow
It’s not you against them but it’s you against you
Your race time’s a measure of what you can really do
Don't mind if your PR is inferior from the rest
Running my friend is a personal quest

Take your time, create your own pace
Take your time, alone or in a race

Running isn’t easy, it comes with a price
Commit yourself into it there is sacrifice
Turning into a passion, it’s no longer just an exercise
Joining any race you won’t even think twice
Addiction, meditation you won’t run out of reason
Each session provokes an unending competition
With oneself, never mind the changing of the seasons
Hibernation feels like committing a crime of treason
Each run is different but the feeling is the same
Waiting for the runner’s high sometime’s a guessing game
You may run just to finish or race for honor or for fame
What really matter is what you did to reach your aim

Take your time, create your own pace
Take your time, alone or in a race
