we build our assumptions
based on what we see
thinking it’s the right thing to do
we set our emotions free
we allowed our souls to drift
into a world of fantasy
we let our guard down
under the guise of leniency
overwhelmed by the chance
to confirm an expectation
we follow a primal urge
without the light of reason
our minds played tricks on us
until we ran out of caution
the casual gesture is now
an uncontrollable passion
we misled ourselves
then we fell into a trap
the dire consequences
build an enormous gap
when we blindly follow
someone’s unreliable map
we’ll simply run off course
and miss the final lap
