led by what we keep
we stumble along the way
thinking it’s a better choice
we just clutter what we say
the thought gives us comfort
but the act proves an unusual tale
it seems to be the right direction
yet we’re unfamiliar with the trail
the disguise is now a pattern
a label that we keep within
giving us a false security
for a battle we can’t win
with intentions unknown
to those we’re hiding from
the urge to seek this tempting path
is something we can’t overcome
